Training Volunteers, Building Skills, Improving Resilience:
We are committed to supporting VCSE organisations and are working towards being able to deliver level 2 food safety training to all West Yorkshire volunteers who with with and/or around food. We are particularly interested in training volunteers who work in food banks and similar food projects which provide food for vulnerable people.
We are seeking funding from various sources to make this a reality.
So far we have managed to access a small amount of funding which can be spent on training VCSE volunteers who either live or work in certain areas.
At present we have funding to provide free Level 2 Food Safety training to VCSE organisations operating in Elland, West Vale, Hollywell Green, Greetland, Barkisland, Stainland, Outlane and Sowood. We are also able to provide training free of charge to people living in these areas.
If you live or volunteer for an organisation which meets the above criteria then please get in touch via email and we will send you a discount code which enables free access to the course. This is for a limited number of people.
We are actively seeking further funding to make this provision more widespread and accessible throughout West Yorkshire.
They key to what we are doing isn’t to think of us as an organisation which is steamrollering in and telling you that what you are already doing isn’t good enough.
We are trying to get more people trained in basic food hygiene, especially people who might not normally get any training but who do occasionally do things related to food.
We think everyone benefits from being trained and training is a great way to avoid any easily avoidable mishaps.
